Mercedes-Benz electric cars
A German luxury automaker selling battery-electric SUVs, sedans and a van under its Mercedes-EQ sub-brand alongside a plug-in hybrid combustion range.
Mercedes-Benz traces its lineage to Carl Benz's 1886 Patent-Motorwagen and Gottlieb Daimler's pioneering engines; the modern brand formed on 28 June 1926 when Benz & Cie. merged with Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft. Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific Pty Ltd is the factory-owned importer/distributor for the local market.
Mercedes introduced its EQ electric sub-brand to Australia with the EQC mid-size SUV, on sale in EQ showrooms from 9 December 2019 (first customer deliveries early 2020, priced from $137,900 plus on-road costs); a cheaper EQC variant followed in 2021 as demand grew. Mercedes-Benz Australia frames its EV push around net-carbon-neutral operations by 2039 and expanded charging access (including free ultra-rapid charging offers via Chargefox for early EQC buyers).
premium luxury
Battery-electric EQA compact SUV, EQC mid-size SUV, EQE sedan and SUV, and EQS luxury sedan (450+ and 580 4MATIC) and EQV van are sold in Australia, alongside plug-in hybrid variants across the C-Class, E-Class, GLC and GLE combustion ranges.
