Polestar electric cars

Tier 2SE

A standalone Swedish performance-EV brand spun out of Volvo/Geely, selling direct-to-consumer at fixed prices through company-run spaces rather than traditional franchised dealers.

Polestar traces its roots to Flash Engineering, a Swedish touring-car racing team founded in 1996 that became Volvo's in-house performance-tuning arm (bought outright by Volvo in 2015). In October 2017, Volvo Cars and Geely Holding relaunched Polestar as a standalone electric-performance brand; the current UK holding company was formed in 2021, listing on Nasdaq (PSNY) in June 2022.

Polestar is a pure battery-electric performance brand (no combustion models). It entered Australia in February 2022 with the Polestar 2 fastback, followed by the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 SUVs. It sells via a fixed-price agency model through company-owned Spaces and delivery centres, and is recruiting independent dealer partners (while keeping fixed online pricing) to grow its Australian footprint from five factory-owned spaces toward seven-plus sites nationally.

premium electric performance

All battery-electric: the Polestar 2 performance fastback, Polestar 3 mid-size performance SUV and Polestar 4 coupe-SUV are on sale in Australia; the Polestar 5 grand tourer sedan is a further planned addition to the range.
